|---|---|---|
World's Best Multiple Cat Unscented | A corn litter with an 8 lb bag for lighter carrying. | 'No artificial perfumes' does not mean no scent, and the largest bag is 32 lb, so choose the 8 lb size if carrying is a concern. |
Fresh News Original | Smallest bags here, 4 lb, and a scented Multi-Cat version if you want scent. | It does not clump. |
Dr. Elsey's Ultra Litter | Hard-clumping clay with maker dust and tracking claims, and clear trash disposal directions. | The 99% dust-free figure shows no method we can compare with other makers. |
Tidy Cats Free & Clean Unscented | Unscented clay with activated charcoal, sold as a jug, pail, box or bag bundle. | The maker lists natural clay, activated charcoal and multi-cat clumping without fragrance. This page quotes no dust or odor result for it. |
Purrify | Our preferred deodorizer beside the litter you pick. 120g suits most homes. | It is another item to store. |
World's Best Multiple Cat Unscented
World's Best Multiple Cat Unscented is made from whole kernel US grown corn plus a proprietary natural plant material the maker does not fully name, and has no artificial perfumes. Current sizes are 8, 15, 28 and 32 lb. The maker calls it quick clumping and suggests 2 to 3 inches of depth with daily scooping. [1]
Fresh News Original
Recycled-paper pellets with baking soda in 4, 12 and 25 lb bags. The Multi-Cat version adds a Fresh Linen Scent. [2]
Dr. Elsey's Ultra Litter
Dr. Elsey's Ultra is an unscented natural clay litter that blends heavy granules with medium grain clay. The maker says it has no perfumes or deodorants and can be used in sifting or mechanical boxes. It lists a 3 to 4 inch depth and scooping twice daily, with waste going in the trash, not the toilet. [3]
Tidy Cats Free & Clean Unscented
Tidy Cats Free & Clean Unscented is a clumping clay litter with activated charcoal. The maker lists no fragrances and no dyes. It comes in a 14 lb jug, 20 lb jug, 35 lb pail, 40 lb box and a 40 lb bag bundle, so you can pick a size by how you store and carry litter. [4]
Purrify
Sold in bags as activated carbon granules. Two tablespoons go onto fresh litter and mix in gently, with more added whenever the smell comes back. [7]

View on PurrifyWhat changes in a small home
A small home leaves less room to hide a box, so bag weight, dust wording and scent choice come up sooner. Cornell's guidance, dated January 2015, advises one more box than you have cats, plus daily removal of clumps and feces. Plan space and time for both before you shop.
[6]Dust, scent and clumping compared
Dr. Elsey's gives the maker's own wording: low tracking, 99% dust-free and hard clumping. World's Best and Tidy Cats offer unscented multi-cat clumping litter, while Fresh News offers non-clumping paper pellets with baking soda and a separate scented version. Each maker's figures are its own wording. Purrify calls itself the most powerful odour remover in the world, which is the brand's own positioning.
[3][1][4][2][7]Disposal and storage
Dr. Elsey's directs you to put used litter in the trash, not the toilet. For the other picks, check the bag and the flushing and trash rules in your building and town. For storage, compare sizes: Tidy Cats lists a 14 lb jug and a 40 lb box, and Fresh News lists a 4 lb bag.
[5][3][4][2]What we cannot promise
Landlord approval, lease compliance and an odor-free home are outside what a litter page can promise. Picks are editorial judgment from maker specs and carry no scores.

[7]How we compare
These are desk comparisons. We read what the makers publish, set the products side by side and pick by fit. We have not tested the products ourselves, so the pages report no measured results, no lab figures and no numerical ratings. Every comparison lists its sources.
