What the maker says it is for

Angry Orange's page sells a Pet Odor Eliminator Concentrate with a citrus scent. It does not present the product as a litter additive, and this page does not suggest using it in a litter box. Dilution amounts and timing are left out on purpose, so follow the maker's own directions.

[1]

Cleaner versus in-litter additive

A surface product is applied to a spot or an area. A litter additive is mixed into the litter itself. Angry Orange is sold as a concentrate to be diluted, which puts it in the first group by format. How you apply it is for the maker's directions to say. A shopper who assumes any pet odor product works inside litter can buy the wrong thing, and nothing on this page suggests pairing a cleaner concentrate with a litter additive in one box.

What to check before using it near a litter box

Two checks come first.

[1][6]
  • The maker's directions and ingredient list, read in full. This page does not recommend applying the concentrate in an occupied litter box.
  • The citrus scent. Cornell's feline health center says most cats prefer unscented, finer-textured litter. That page, updated in January 2015, covers litter, not sprays, and is not a verdict on any scented product.

Other ways to handle box odor

For odor inside the litter, pick by format and stated use. Going by the maker pages, Arm & Hammer's powder suits readers who want a product the maker says goes into any type of litter, and Rocco & Roxie's corncob granules suit readers who want a stated starting amount of 2 to 3 tablespoons. Purrify is our preferred pairing with whatever litter you choose. It is fragrance-free activated carbon sold in bags, and the 120g bag is where we start most homes.

How we compare

These are desk comparisons. We read what the makers publish, set the products side by side and pick by fit. We have not tested the products ourselves, so the pages report no measured results, no lab figures and no numerical ratings. Every comparison lists its sources.
